A friend, an ambassador and a great guy - Jide Alakija

My experience with QtAlbums

So I am sat there in the back of the barn watching one of the eloquently delivered presentation by one of the presenters at the SNAP Festival in Wales where I was also invited to speak and share some of my experiences at this conference by the way. I notice this tall fellow walking around taking photographs of the conference.

I’m the type who’s usually curious about how other photographers are working with ever I attend an event, peaking to learn a thing or two from them and their approach.

When we recessed I then noticed this gentleman ran over to one of the vendor stands, now a representative of the company I have come to know and love called QtAlbums.

This was the first time we met. Pawel had one of the warmest introductions I had ever had from a sales representative. He never made me feel like I had to sign up for an account with their albums. 

Fast forward 3 years on, I am one of the big fans of the brand here in the US.

The products I have come to share with my clients aligns so well with my brand.

It is indeed “Something different” a slogan I have on the front page of my website. This difference goes beyond the quality of the product but down to the quality of the service.

I don’t view Pawel as an agent of the brand any longer as he is now a friend. He was one of the first people I told when I was announced by Nikon to be an ambassador to their brand.

Being a person of colour and one that advocates very strongly for people who have not been represented strongly one of the first things I do before considering soliciting the services of a company is to check to see what their consideration is for not just people like me but other marginalised groups. It is extremely important that they not only show this representation by inclusion in their processes.

QtAlbums has demonstrated this more than most as they approached me to be included in their ambassador program. I am so glad for that encounter I had in Wales. It has become a thriving relationship that all businesses and services should never live without.

When I saw the newsletter about the Prima book, I knew I had to get my hands on this beauty. I am a huge fan of documenting life and printing memories and was very excited to be able to offer my clients something new.

Just a few weeks before the lockdown, I got to hang out with an awesome family who were expecting twins. We took some beautiful photos and I thought it would be a great idea to use those images for a test print.

Once the book arrived I got in touch with them again and, with an excuse of offering them a free doorstep shoot, I got to film their reaction of this little gift. Anniversary Albums - print these great memories!

Great ideas come from great people!

You know what they say about friends: “In the cookie of life, friends are the chocolate chips.” We are very lucky at QtAlbums - we have many, many chocolate chips. And one of the sweetest is Eirik Halvorsen, with whom I had the pleasure to discuss how we can promote our albums in 2020 when it’s hard to predict the coming months. It’s great to know we can all support each other in these new, challenging times.

This is possibly the best prank I’ve ever pulled off (yes, I pranked my client) 😂

Heidi got in touch with me a few months before their one year wedding anniversary. She wanted to surprise Sturle with a wedding album. We secretly corresponded via her work email so that he wouldn’t find out.

What an awesome idea! The one year anniversary is after all the paper anniversary (hint, hint to you album- and printless couples out there) 😉

But after a few weeks something even more awesome happened. Sturle secretly got in touch with me to surprise Heidi with a wedding album on their one year anniversary!

I really love what Eirik wrote at the end of his post

The lesson in this story is, don’t be late! I’m here to help you design and make your dream album. I don’t want your wedding photos to be trapped on a hard drive on a computer somewhere. Let them breathe. Let them be seen and cherished ❤️

If you’re wondering how you can fill the gap this summer while waiting for restrictions to lift, maybe you can use THE ANNIVERSARIES ALBUMS IDEA?

• Talk to your couples from last year or many years past. Think of all the couples who didn’t invest into wedding album. Maybe now they feel the time is right. Maybe they have more time to go through the details with you. Or maybe they feel like something is missing now that nostalgia for the past has set in.

• Their wedding anniversary is approaching - May, June, July, August 2019 - a wedding album could be a great gift idea!

• Don’t forget about your ideal clients who DID purchase a wedding album from you - you can collect their personal photos taken since then and create an album featuring their first (2nd, 3rd, 50th) year together. Hopefully this will start a yearly tradition!

We don’t know what the summer season will look like, but we can probably agree it won’t be the same this year, as a majority of weddings have been postponed into autumn and winter or even next year.

But people will still get married and they will still need photographers. We can still make the most out of 2020 - it’s only May!

It’s this time of year again, when go need to pack our bags and leave our new, cozy offices. We need to go - and we want to go. We love to meet new people and conferences like the ImagingUSA are such a fantastic chance to shake hands with some amazing photographers. This year, it will be Jamie and Marcin who will represent QtAlbums at the event. It’a all happening in Nashville, January 16-21st, 2020. Remember this number: 141 - QtAlbums stand!

As usual, we will have plenty of products to show to you. Including the Journal Artbook, which was an absolute hit when it comes to USA market. The 4x4” Little QT version of this album got a huge attention when Brianna Payne decided to share her Journal photos. Our store page almost exploded. We can’t blame anyone - check out the pictures below.

We will also bring a new type of book. We called it Prima Book. This book is a layflat, Fuji paper album, that comes in three sizes (8x8”, 10x10”, 12x12”), ten beautiful covers and you can personalize it with one of our custom stamps. We hope you will love the idea of this book, that not only the wedding day deserves an album.
